Maternity Photo Session : Kavi & Nick
Last Autumn (2020), I was given the chance at a photography session with two of my favorite people, an adorable couple, Kavi and Nick Parker as they announced their pregnancy news. Doing the session itself was an honor, and I loved being able to be a part of their special moment. Fast forward a few months, and I’m looking into more and more details about the kinds of photoshoots I’ve done versus the ones I would want to explore and never tried.
Maternity photoshoots have been an area of photography in which I’ve been meaning to gain experience, but it’s not often you can meet someone carrying a child for a photoshoot and not have it be bit weird, I feel, especially with no experience or examples to show. This once again brought me to Kavi to see if my request would have any standing. Luckily, she was willing to listen to my idea, and she was also into it.
For my first maternity photo session I feel it was a very good run. I went all in on floral…a bit more than I thought I would, but I wanted to cover every angle of the studio we shot in floral décor. Can’t escape the floral bomb! My reasoning for wanting to do maternity photo sessions I felt was very simple: Everyone deserves to feel confident and lovely, and if I can bring some happiness and a day of beauty and attention to someone going through the stages of pregnancy, then so be it I will do it. It also doesn’t hurt that I adore cute things and will continue to do so. I do hope to find a way to bring this genre of photography more into my professional world. With any luck, it will become a stable part of my portfolio as I continue to grow in this field.
All the love and blessings to Kavi and Nick on this next stage of their lives as they grow into a family.
